The Surfacing Operative Market

Rakers, screed hands and roller operators are the muscle of the surfacing gang, and demand for reliable, ticketed surfacing operatives outstrips supply through every surfacing season. The work is mobile, physical and often night-shift, so contractors value operatives who turn up, hold streetworks units, and can move between rake and roller. ARG supplies surfacing operatives for permanent gangs and for immediate contract labour when a gang is short.

Typical Qualifications & Tickets

  • NVQ Road Surfacing (or working toward)
  • Streetworks (NRSWA) operative units
  • Roller/paver tickets advantageous
